Ableton Live 10 / 11 / 12 with Max for Live
v1.2 New features and improvements:
- Added option to manually select the folder path from which the device reads files. This allows you to use “Collect All and Save” without interrupting the operation of the device.
- Added tab system. The device can display 8 tabs, each pointing to a different folder path.
- Added option to create a MIDI track before inserting items. Useful for inserting instruments into the project.
- List item text can now be left aligned.
- Some interface colors can be modified for better viewing, especially for Live’s dark themes.
- It is now possible to maintain the position of the floating window on the screen, so that it does not return to its default position when reopening projects.
- It is now possible to set the zoom of the floating window to a value less than 100%.
- Updated PDF Manual.
1.1 New features and improvements:
- Folders and preset files are included as an example of the folder structure.
- Modified GUI to adapt to the new rack design in Live version 12.2, does not change the operation of the device.

Inserting an item opens a new instance of Live on Windows.
Single-clicking on the device works the same way as double-clicking in Windows File Explorer. If you have “Allow Multiple Instances” enabled in Live’s settings, this opens a new instance of Live.
Items do not load on macOS.
On macOS, two external components must be installed for the device to function properly. Section 1.4 of the PDF manual details the installation.
Opening the floating window using key mapping adds a step to the undo history.
Mapped controls add a step to Live’s undo history. The community has been asking Ableton/Max developers to allow mappings without adding entries to the undo history. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be a priority in development.
The Color Picker doesn’t work properly on macOS. Controls for setting the color in RGB format will be added in future updates.
At this time, the Color Picker only works on Max for Live devices. You can use it to pick colors from the same device or any other Max for Live device used in the project.
